There are always some unfinished things down there, in the dark, waiting to come out...

Starting with some more art-in-progress today, that I found in the process of feathering the nest a bit more on Newalone; the filename for this one is 'massive spoilers.reb' but that's a version that's further along, so here's the version with the spoilery layer removed. Definitely got ahead of myself with how 'ready' this project was for its close-up, like it rrreally isn't anywhere near yet but well, what can I say? I got excited.

Also took a little run at playing Silent Hill 4 on this computer last night, just to see how it runs and sure, a modern PC shouldn't have any bloody trouble running a PS2-era game but I've been burnt before (the absolute state of Sega Saturn emulation circa 2010. Painful.) and didn't have the highest of hopes. Still, it runs smoothly, the controls are responsive, it looks... appropriately crunchy and muddy for the era, so once I've wrapped up my current playthroughs on other games, then that'll be nice to come back and tootle about on. I know some people like to play older games on CRTs to soften the visuals a bit and that would be lush, I would absolutely love a telly with a bit of arse on it, but there just isn't the space for one in this house. Alas.

Anyway, back to more art, rustled up from the depths...

Juno and Phaios, started back in April. Judging by the size comparisons here, this is when Phaios is fully grown - as stated previously, he is surtout un petit chou - some might even say he's almost too wee!

This one was inspired by a video of a Weddell seal trying to entice her pup into the water to practice swimming, with the pup refusing to come off the ice, and the two of them were locked in a stalemate going "Raaah!" back and forth at each other, but I can't seem to find it (bugger!) Here's some different footage of seals raahing and chirping instead, to fill the void.

A look at the lineart style that I'm on the fence about sticking with and a treat for the old guard - annotations!

And now the colouring style, which I probably will stick with. Even in colour, our wee lad there still looks like he's going O_O.

An incredibly rough sketch that I completely forgot about...

Some very early sketches, trying to work out the art style.

And to finish, another forgotten effort, with some happy faces.
