Catching up with more pictures today and yes, it's time for another wander up through the allotments. This time, I set off earlier than usual, mainly hoping to avoid the worst of the heat, but also had the pleasure of a peaceful walk.
Stepping into this shaded area after being in the sun was absolutely sublime. Cool, refreshing, surrounded by plants - honestly, what more could you ask for in life?
This bit is great for when you want to feel like you're rummaging through the wilderness but you're short on time. It's close to home and it's a small area of the path, like a little flourish of wilderness, just to scratch the itch.
Fleurs!
More fleurs!
Taking a detour onto the Yellow Brick Road (no longer yellow, but the memory of its sandy glory days - and its propensity to turn into an absolute swamp whenever it rained - lives on.)
Fleurs vol. 3, to the side of Magic Path vol. 2 (this is why I can't be relied upon to give people directions.)
Snapping these lovelies here did briefly put me in mind of picking up an instant camera sometime (like one with instant film, not one of those Zink efforts), because I do really enjoy exploring the quirks and capabilities of different types of camera. On further reflection though, given that I tend to get my digital photos printed and stash them in albums anyway, I could feasibly replicate an instant shot by getting a print and putting a frame around it; then I'd have the added fun of holographic and metallic frames, and one less bit of fuss around deciding which camera to take out. (I do seriously need to upgrade my "proper" camera though; Feisar is ancient, it wasn't particularly highly spec'd when it came out and it's really showing its age now, snapshots look fine when they're printed but it's no longer up to snuff for when I need crisp high-res photos of things.)
More colourful blooms in a charming residential area; obviously didn't take any pictures for privacy reasons, but the houses and gardens around here are gorgeous. It's also very quiet in this area, a great place for a serene wander.
After nipping to the shops to procure some odds and ends, I of course had the customary check-in with the Gate to Nowhere. By this point, I'd say about half an hour after chillin' in the allotments, the temperature risen pretty swiftly, so it was too hot to hang around even in the shade.
Taking a shortcut through a different part of the Yellow Brick Road, this little wooded area here has an atmosphere of intrigue about it (it's especially nice during the tail end of Winter and into Spring when the snowdrops and bluebells are out in force.)
And that concludes today's post on yesterday's adventure. Stay cool, everyone!
(Damn near impossible in this bloody weather but good luck all the same.)
